Who We Are
Orr, Dignam & Co was established in Pakistan in 1952. The Firm has its origins in a firm of the same name that was established in British India over 100 years ago. Orr, Dignam & Co. is among the largest firms of Advocates in Pakistan. It has offices in Karachi and Islamabad. The Firm has seven Partners with a team of talented and dynamic Associates with experience in Pakistan civil and commercial law. The head office of Orr, Dignam & Co. is based in Karachi, which is the commercial center of Pakistan. The Firm also has a well-established office in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Orr, Dignam is privileged to represent a wide cross section of clients in the public and private sectors. These include both national and multinational clients.
Orr, Dignam & Co. has an extensive Commercial Litigation/Arbitration practice, with experienced litigators handling an active and varied civil litigation portfolio in all the Courts of Pakistan including the High Courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Firm also handles Arbitrations – both domestic and international, with the latter including the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris and the London Court of International Arbitration.
Orr, Dignam’s Civil and Commercial Law practice covers corporate and company law, oil and gas, energy (petroleum, gas and electrical power) law, infrastructure projects, corporate finance, construction laws, banking, insurance law, privatization and restructuring matters, commercial contracts, foreign investment laws, information technology and computer law, mergers and acquisitions, maritime and aviation law and charities and NGO laws. The Firm has also assisted the Government of Pakistan in the drafting of legislation.

The Firm acted as correspondent in Pakistan for the Business Group Newsletter of LAWASIA and International Construction Law Review. Corporate and Commercial
General corporate and commercial work is at the core of Orr, Dignam’s practice. The Firm represents and advises clients on all aspects of corporate and commercial law including incorporation formalities, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, shareholder matters and disputes.
Privitisation
The Firm has been involved in several major privatisation transactions, notably in the electrical power, downstream petroleum and other sectors. The Firm’s privatization practice has included acting for financial advisors on the sell side and for bidders on the buy side.
Energy
The Firm has a very well established energy practice encompassing oil and gas and electrical power generation. The Firm’s practice includes upstream oil and gas work in connection with exploration, concession and operating agreements and licences. In the mid-stream energy sector, the Firm has been involved with the contracts relating to long distance pipelines and acts for a number of refineries and is currently advising in connection with the establishment of a new refinery. The Firm also represents the largest oil marketing company in the country. The firm has also been involved in advising on aspects of a proposed transnational gas pipeline.
